[PAST]
In the autumn of 1996, a group of full time Christian youth workers got together from across Poole, Wimborne and Ferndown with a common desire to work together to plan events for Christian young people - events that were lively, relevant, and would encourage them in their faith.
Having chosen 'The Farside' as our name, we put on our first celebration later that year at Poole Arts Centre, which attracted around 100 young people from eight churches. As the first one was a success, we decided to consult with other church and youth group leaders in the area and eventually agreed to put on celebrations on a bi-monthly basis. The word soon spread and more Christian youth groups decided this was something they would like to be a part of, and the numbers of young people attending steadily grew until now when we regularly see around 200 young people attending from up to 35 different churches.

[PRESENT]
The Farside celebrations are intended both to encourage the Christian young people in their faith and provide an event that they can be a part of through the planning group, the drama group, the dance group, the band, and the drop-in project.

[FUTURE]
It is our hope that over the coming years The Farside will continue to be a vehicle through which local churches and other Christian organisations can work together to put on credible Christian youth events that will encourage and equip young people in their faith, and assist them to contribute to the lives of other young people across the area through personal witness and practical projects.
