Deanery Workers

The Farside is supported by two deanery workers, who facilitate the planning and running of the celebrations and coordinate the projects that spring out of the celebrations. Each deanery worker is based in a church, and they do a FdA in youth work at Southampton Uni too.

Poole deanery started training deanery workers in 2002. The current four workers are a very interesting bunch!

So who are they?

Hello everybody, my name is Tim Hancock and I'm a youth worker for the Farside, and St Peter's and Parkstone United Reformed Churches in Lower Parkstone. During a Farside celebration I'm generally kicking around on prayer stations, artsy stuff, being dramatic, generally getting in the way and having fun. During a week I surprise myself with the amount of things I do, being fairly laid back (lazy) by nature. I'm mostly involved in community youth projects, such as Turlin Moor youth centre, Bournemouth and Poole college groups, and St. Peter's/PURC youth activities.
Aside from youth work, my main interests are being involved in church, live music, mountain biking, surfing, snowboarding, roast dinners, not eating chocolate, funny films and revival! I grew up just outside Poole in an amazing place called Three Legged Cross (3LX), which is even farther away than Wimborne! (Gasp!). I'm passionate and excited about what the Holy Spirit is doing throughout the Poole and Bournemouth area.

My name is Matt Evans and I'm the youth worker at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Rossmore. But you guys probably know me more as the lead worshipper at the Farside Celebrations. I love Captain Underpants books, chocolate, twister ice creams, playing football, wooping Tim at table tennis, travelling, Hawaiian pizza, falling asleep at the cinema, but above all else, love Jesus.

People keep asking what I actually do, so... contrary to popular belief that youth workers lounge around all day. :) I'm involved in a variety of school and community projects throughout the week. My home church (Church of Good Shepherd) is my base however and we have a varied youth program throughout the week.
